ABOUT

Artist Statement

I have been around photography and art my whole life and was inspired by my grandfather.  Every weekend, our family would sit in my grandparents basement watching our summer vacations projected onto the screen. I loved listening to the heat of the projector, sitting there in the dark, getting lost in the images, the colors, artistery of each image. There was nothing eles in my life that gave me joy then sitting in his basement watching these slides projected onto a screen. It was beyond cool. It was magical.

Much of the photographic work that I do is about discovering what can be unveiled through the play of light.  Staying in the frame work of the mystery. In the Question, not knowing the answer. Curious. I started off as a fine artist, a painter, but found photography in College where I studied light and built my own pin-hole camera. It was the "science of light" that taught me to look beyond the frame but to find truth. This further lead me to become a filmmaker. A story teller of imagery of light and sound.

I don't ever look for a image, it finds me. Its magical. Its mysterious. Its fictcious. Its my love. Its my way to understand the world. I'm still asking. I'm still wondering. I'm still amazed by the art of photography, and the illusion of time.I specialize in documentary and photojournalism, but have found myself doing portraits as of lately, and branding every image with depth and verve.....art is the tool for a progressive world.
